IREEM Attends the European Biomass Conference and Exhibition (EUBCE) 2025 to Support the Clean Energy Transition
Valencia, Spain, June 9–12, 2025 — IREEM reaffirmed its commitment to supporting the clean energy transition by participating in the international European Biomass Conference and Exhibition (EUBCE) 2025. The 33rd EUBCE was organized by ETA‑Florence Renewable Energies in collaboration with the European Commission Joint Research Centre (JRC), bringing together scientists, academics, industry players, researchers, and policymakers from over 80 countries to discuss advances in biomass and renewable energy research and technology.
With the theme “Supporting a Sustainable Energy Transition,” EUBCE 2025 focused on the use of biomass to reduce carbon emissions, strengthen renewable energy development, and support a bio-based circular economy. The conference also addressed strategic topics such as biomass conversion to renewable energy, sustainable biofuels, bioenergy integration, and bioeconomy policy. Recent studies show that without bioenergy, the cost of the global energy transition could rise by up to 20%, highlighting the crucial role of biogenic carbon in achieving low-emission and cost-effective energy systems.
IREEM was represented by Mr. Arief Yunan and Mr. Unggung Widhiantoro, who actively participated as speakers in scientific sessions. Mr. Arief presented “Local Biomass Development in Indonesia: A Root Cause Perspective on Key Barriers,” while Mr. Unggung delivered “Harnessing Local Biomass in Indonesia for a Just Energy Transition: A System Dynamics Approach to Linking Emission Trading and Local Biomass Optimization.”

IREEM’s presence at EUBCE 2025 is expected to expand international networks, open opportunities for strategic collaboration, and support the advancement of renewable energy technology in Indonesia. This commitment is part of our concrete steps toward achieving a cleaner, more sustainable, and low-carbon energy transition.
